In 2006, Jarmo Rapala – grandson of fishing legend Lauri Rapala – brought the iconic TURUS UKKO lures back to Finland. Since then, his mission has been clear: to maintain the exceptional performance and reputation these lures earned under their original inventor, Jorma Turunen. Combining deep industry know-how with a global network in lure craftsmanship, Jarmo has elevated the TURUS UKKO quality even further. The result: modern lures that honor classic traditions, built with precision and passion.
Handcrafted Excellence made in Germany (since 2022)
Each TURUS UKKO Original wobbler is made by hand in Germany now – just like in the early days. The wooden bodies are carefully milled and hand-sanded. Further, each lure is equipped with premium components designed for durability and performance:
- Hook-in eyelet in the head area – handcrafted in Finland from high-performance stainless steel for maximum quality
- Ultra-sharp and stainless treble hooks
- Every lure is coated in multiple layers of paint, starting with high-quality protective primer dipps that remain slightly flexible over time – preventing cracking or flaking and ensuring protection against bite marks and water intrusion
- Finally, each wobbler is hand-painted and sealed with a clear topcoat – ensuring long-lasting durability and performance
Which Size is Right for You?
We offer TURUS UKKO Original wobblers in four sizes:
20 cm – Ideal for trolling big predators like pike, big zander, muskie, salmon, and arctic char. The 20 cm wobbler is fitted with a weighted metal core in the head to ensure a natural, horizontal swim action, especially effective for big pike ladies and for freshwater heavy spin fishing with baitcasting gear. The production stops in 2025 and those lures will be continued by the TURUS UKKO PRO 20 cm lures starting 2026. The last charge of the TURUS UKKO Original 20 cm made of Abachi wood made in Germany can be purchased via JJW.FISHING or their retailers in Sweden while stocks last.
12 cm & 16 cm – The versatile all-rounders. Perfect for trolling or spinning. Target species include pike, large sea trout and salmon. Giant zander also love the TURUS UKKO Original wobbler in this size.
9 cm – A bestseller that is still available in limited quantities through Zeck Fishing. Developed for successful spin fishing and trolling for zander, perch, and largemouth bass. Compact and powerful. It is planned to offer this size in brand-new colors in a small series starting in 2027 via www.luckylures.eu.
There will only be smaller and strictly limited production runs of the TURUS UKKO Original lures in new color patterns (so-called drops). These drops, which continue to be crafted from abachi wood, were manufactured exclusively for our distribution partner Zeck Fishing until June 2026. Starting in September 2026, subsequent drops will be available for purchase directly through the shop section of www.luckylures.eu.
To bring these lures to the masses, a completely newly developed TURUS UKKO series made of high-density urethane foam will be available as a line-through version in the 16 cm lure size around the turn of the year 2026/2027. This series is currently still in the testing phase and is based on a brand-new manufacturing process. The prototypes of this series have already won a Swedish pike fishing competition, and further test fishing under a wide variety of conditions across different waters has been -and continues to be – extremely successful. Word has already spread throughout Scandinavia, and we are working flat out to meet the demand requested by retailers there as quickly as possible.
